1:35 WWII PzKpfw. II Ausf.F/G (5) SK.121
300035009€14.49
Article number: 300035009 Product: 1/35 WWII PzKpfw. II Ausf.F/G (5) SK.121 In the morning of September 1, 1939, the German forces consisting of the 3rd, 4th, 8th, 10th and the 14th Armies invaded Poland all heading for Warsaw, its capital. This was the beginning of the 2nd World War that had shaken the whole world for six years and the Germans made a good show of their war efforts at the start with this violent surprise offensive by massed air forces and mechanized ground forces in close co-ordination, the so-called "Blitzkrieg". It was none other than the Pzkpfw 11 that had played the key role in this Blitzkrieg which started with the invasion of Poland to be followed by break-through of the Maginot-line 7 months later and ended with the surrender of France. In anticipation of the delay in production of the two main strength tanks of the Pzkpfw III and the Pzkpfw IV then under development, the Ordnance Department decided in 1934 to develop a new tank instead to fill the gap. It gave specifications of the proposed new tank to the following three companies - the Mann, the Krupp and the Henschel. The specifications envisioned a tank weighing less than 10 tons and armed with 2 cm and 7.92 mm machine guns, one each. Among the designs of the rivaling three companies presented, the one by the Mann was selected and the Mann in cooperation with the Daimler-Benz developed a first tank of the a1 type in 1935. When 25 tanks of the same type were produced, the tank was officially named, "Panzer Kampfwagen II". After the first 25, another 25 tanks of the a2 type and 50 of the a3 type were produced in succession by 1936. Tanks of these 3 types thus produced were equipped each with a 6-cylinder, 130HP, May-Bach HL37 engine and credited with a maximum speed of 40km/h. However, it was decried that the horse-power was not enough and the engine was replaced with a May-Bach HL-62 one of 140 HP. The frontal armour, too, was reinforced and a new tank of the b type was produced. In 1937, the Pzkpfw II was further improved and a series of new ones of the c type were produced. The c-type tanks used 5 large sized road wheels suspended only at one end by leaf spring. This suspension system newly introduced became a common feature to all the pzkpfw II produced ever since. Also, the front portion of hull was reshaped into a more roundish form. From 1937 to the beginning of 1940, Pzkpfw II of mass production types, A, B, and C, were manufactured in great numbers. To increase their productivity's, the frontal armour plate was replaced with an angular single-piece one. Pzkpfw II with specifications described above played the key role in the Blitzkrieg. At the start of this Blitzkrieg, the German tanks numbered 2580 in all, of which nearly half amounting to 955 in number were the Pzkpfw II. In 1940, mass production of the F type was started. The new Pzkpfw II was reinforced in its frontal armour (thickened to 35mm) and side (to 20mm). However, the improvement added its weight and its overall weight reached up to 9.5 tons. The main gun was replaced with a 20mm KwK 30 machine gun. The gun used to be an anti-air MG but remodeled into a main gun for a tank. Frontal armour to cover upper hull, also, was changed into a plain single-piece plate. Further, a false look-out window beside the genuine one for the driver and another for the same were newly added. These were the distinct features of the F-type tanks. After the F-type ones, those of the final mass-production type G were produced. Their main guns were much more powerful KWK 38 MGs, and each tank of this type was fixed a sundries-box at the rear of gun turret. These two were main features that clearly distinguished the G type from the preceding ones. A series of the Pzkpfw II succeeding those of the g type were produced until those of the L type appeared. However, respective numbers of the Pzkpfw II of types produced were all small. It is true that judged by the current standard, these Pzkpfw II look quite inferior both in fire and defensive powers. But when compared with those of other countries active at the time, the Pzkpfw II should be ranked as by far the most superior one. Indeed, its nimble mobility matching well with the German application was the driving force of the spectacular victory won by the Germans at the initial period of the World War II. Warning! 1:35 Ger. Kingtiger Ardennen Fro. (3)
300035252€59.99
Article number: 300035252 Product: 1:35 Ger. Kingtiger Ardennen Fro. (3) Development of the massive King Tiger began in February 1943 to counter the increasing threat of Russian Tanks. A more powerful cannon was added, upgrading from the L56, 88mm of the Tiger I to the Type 43 L71, 88mm high velocity gun. The chassis front armor was 150mm thick with 80mm thick side armor. The Henschel and Porsche companies came up with rival turret prototypes. After the trial production of 50 tanks with the Porsche turret, the Henschel design, with its extremely thick armor that measured 185mm on the front and 88mm on the side panels, was adopted for mass production. The Henschel turret itself was revised mid-way through production, from a stepped gun mantle to a smooth one. Due to the havoc wreaked by the King Tiger I during the final German offensive on the Ardennes front in December of 1944, the Allied forces that moved in on Berlin would fear the King Tiger up until the very last day of the war. As for the DKW NZ350 military motorcycle, production began in 1940. However, this German military motorcycle experienced mid-production changes when resources became limited towards the end of the war. DKW NZ350s at that time were seen with smaller headlights and thinned-out fenders. About the Model ★Tamiya presents a 1/35 scale model of the German King Tiger as it appeared during the final German offensive in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium. ★Total length: 294mm, total width: 108mm. ★>Henschel design turret recreated in superb detail. ★Kit includes parts for two different types of gun mantles- stepped and smooth. ★Turret's rear escape hatch can be opened and closed after assembly. 1/35 Ger. Panther Ausf.D
300035345€59.99
Article number: 300035345 Procuct: 1/35 Ger. Panther Ausf.D The latest addition to the 1/35 Military Miniature Series depicts the German Panther, a WWII AFV developed by Germany to combat the mighty Russian T-34. Given the importance of stopping the T-34 as the Russians turned the tide in WWII, the Panther was a priority and this was emphasized by armored warfare guru Heinz Guderian's role in the design process. The Panther packed a powerful L/70 7.5cm gun (rumored to have taken out a T-34 at 3km) and combined it with excellent mobility and a 55km/h top speed. Just as importantly, it made great use of T-34-inspired sloped armor, up to 80mm in places. As things turned out, development of the Panther was rushed as the German situation worsened, and this led to severe reliability problems in engagements such as the Battle of Kursk in July 1943. Despite that, it proved offensively and defensively highly capable. The Ausf.D was the initial variant of the Panther; 842 were manufactured between January and September 1943. About the Model • This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. • This completely newly-tooled kit captures the form of the Panther Ausf.D with sloped armor, and long 7.5cm gun. Tamiya designers studied a real Panther in the Netherlands to ensure stunning accuracy. • Ausf.D-specific features such as smoke dischargers and rear panel layout are authentically depicted. • Advanced slide molding techniques ensure that turret details are accurately rendered. • Belt type tracks give an effective finish and make for a smooth assembly process. • Commander torso figure plus full body crew figure included. 3 marking options include Battle of Kursk unit. • Three detail-up parts sets are available to further enhance the realism of your model. Their current top-of-the-line "916" bike was unveiled to the public during the 1993 Milan Motor Show. In recent years, Ducati has been a dominant force at the World Superbike Championships. Their 916 was developed using the latest racing technology and expertise, and became a very effective base machine fore these Championships. Its 114 horsepower, 916cc, liquid cooled L-twin cylinder engine uses a computer controlled fuel injection system and Ducat's traditional Desmodromic valve operation system. This powerful engine is mounted in a light weight and extremely rigid, chrome molybdenum steel tubular frame. The rear swing arm suspension uses a mono-arm for quick tire changing during competition. Showa's shock absorbers and Brembo brake calipers are used at both ends. The 916 has a 2-stage adjustable caster offset system. Its aerodynamic cowl design is very distinctive, differing from other racer-replica bikes. The front cowl has engine air intake openings and mounts the dual headlamps. 1:12 Honda VFR 750R 1987
300014057€30.99
Article number: 300014057 Product 1:12 Honda VFR 750R 1987 About the Honda VFR750R Honda's release of their limited production, road-going, "works racer" VFR750R made headlines in the motorcycle scene in 1987. The VFR750R is a street-legal counterpart of the formidable RVF750 endurance racer which displayed remarkable potential in the world endurance championships. This bike follows the concept seen in the RVF750, including the use of space-age technology and components such as titanium, carbon-fiber, kevlar, and magnesium. It betters the earlier bikes by a wide margin. The VFR750R also uses a twin-spar aluminum box frame, Pro-Arm (rear swing arm), and a center-lock hub rear wheel. These superlative features and the RVF's racing reputation have made it a collector's item even before the first unit was off the production line. The 748cc, liquid cooled, V4 cylinder 16 valve engine has been kept compact to keep the VFR's overall dimensions very close to the current 500cc Grand Prix racers, for a minimum frontal area. Further, this motorcycle departs from the typical Japanese mass-production practice by using a great deal of human labor on each unit, such as the FRP cowling and windscreen being laid up by hand. The Honda VFR750R is one potent package and has been designed to be very competitive on racing tracks in stock form, yet remain street legal. It will remain a desirable and elusive high performance bike for years to come. Warning! Not suitable for children under 14 years.

300035020€22.99
Article number: 300035020 Product: 1/35 WWII Sdkfz.251/1 Halbk. Hanomag (5) In 1938, the German Army decided to develop an armoured personnel carrier on the basis of the 3-ton half track (HL-KL-9p). Hanomag Hannoversch Machinenbau (AG) in Hannover was ordered to develop the running gear and Bussing-NAG in Berlin was to develop the superstructure to be armoured. Design work was hastened on the model of existing armoured cars and a prototype was completed at the end of 1938. The Germans tested the prototype in the Kumahsdorf Proving Ground and accepted it for mass production. Thus was born the Armoured Personnel Carrier Hanomag Sdkfz 251/1 which, we may safely say, was a synonym for the German mechanized corps that showed activity in all battlefields throughout the war.

Skyray
300060741€14.49
Article number: 300060741 Product: 1/72 Skyray Towards the end of World War II, many information about advanced aeronautical technology were captured in Germany by the U.S. Forces. One of them was an analysis of the studies carried out by Dr. Alexander Lippisch on delta winged aircraft. Based upon the information, the Douglas firm developed the F4D Skyray, the only operational interceptor with delta wings in the U.S. Navy. Starting the design in 1947, Douglas was awarded a contract for the construction and testing of two prototypes in December 1948. The first prototype took off on its maiden flight in January 1951. The second prototype flew shortly thereafter, and the airframe set two new world records, absolute speed record of 1,211 km/h and 100km closed course record of 1,171km/h, in October 1953. Having numerous improvements and refinements, the first production F4D-1 made its maiden flight in June 1954 and entered squadren service in April 1956. The distinctive 50 degree sweptback wings with round tips were equipped with leading edge slats and trailing edge elevons. A set of trimmers were installed on the inboard trailing edges of the wings. The outer portions of the wings could be folded upwards by oil pressure for carrier stowage. Although the Skyray never saw any combat, it proved its high capability as an interceptor with numerous world records and scramble actions in Taiwan in response to crises in the late 1950's. The Marder I was one of the early German efforts to update a military that – despite crushing early successes against Poland and the Allied early in WWII – was in sore need of mechanization. Based upon the French Lorraine supply tractor, it was one of a number of commandeered vehicles pressed into German service. Around 170 were produced from May 1942, and their 7.5cm Pak40 anti-tank gun was a threat to Allied AFVs in France post-Normandy landings, and also on the Eastern Front and even North Africa. About the Model • This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. • Tamiya designers worked up close with a specimen in the Musée de Blindés, Saumur. The result is a highly accurate depiction of the compact chassis and bulging upper hull, complete with rivet and weld line details. • Interior features gun breech detail, sights, racks, radio equipment and more. • Assembly type tracks have single piece straight sections. • Bogies have an ergonomic parts breakdown. • Two figures are pictured looking to the skies, hinting at the breakdown of air control from their Luftwaffe after the Normandy landings. • Comes with three marking options, two from Normandy and one from the Eastern Front.

1:35 US M151A2 Fiord MUTT w/TOW-Miss.(1)
300035125€13.49
Article number: 300035125 Product: 1:35 US M151A2 Fiord MUTT w/TOW-Miss.(1) The familiar Jeep was born during WW2 and it is said that it contributed greatly to the allied victory during that time. Following the conflict, this vehicle was widely used by most countries of the world as a small transport for the ground forces and later employed large calibre weapons systems for ground combat support. The U.S. Army first utilized this small vehicle in ground support firepower, by mounting the newly designed 105mm recoilless rifle in the rear of the Jeep. This weapon was developed to combat heavily armoured tanks and other tracked vehicles; however it was later adapted to anti-personnel operations with the development of anti-personnel shell charges. When the newer 106mm recoilless rifle came into being, it replaced the 105. This weapons system was mounted in the rear part of the Jeep, but could be also dismounted on a tri-pod for fixed use. As the old jeep became replaced with the newer M151 Ford MUTT, the 106 was also adapted to it. When the M151A2 was released during the late 70's, the model with the 106 rifle mounted was called M825. It had a beefed up rear suspension system to accept the rifles added weight of 325kg. Shortly the TOW missile system replaced the 106 recoiless rifles, as the main anti-tank mobile weapons system. Development of the TOW system began in the 1960's as a replacement for the large and heavy recoilless rifles. It was combat tested during the Vietnam conflict and proved its power and accuracy. It was further improved and finally replaced most of the 106's still in service. Officially it is called the BGM-71A; however, it is most widely called the TOW missile system which stands for Tube launched, Optically tracked, Wire guided, missile system. When the missile is fired at a target, the shooter maintains the target in the cross hairs of the sight. The infrared rays of the missile exhaust are sensed by the optical sight and the computer compensated for the speed of the target and missile, guiding it via the wire trailing back to the vehicle. A far greater percentage of hits are recorded with this system, and it is easier to operate. Maximum range for shooting is 3750m which is much greater than the 1097m effective range of the 106. 300061050€28.99
Article number: 300061050 Product: 1:48 Ger. Messerschmitt Bf109 E3 About the Messerschmitt Bf109 E-3 Without a doubt, the Messerschmitt Bf109 can be claimed as the most famous and successful German aircraft from the WW2. It was the world's most advanced fighter at the time of its debut in 1936, and remained as the standard fighter for the Luftwaffe throughout the conflict. Created by the brilliant designer Willi Messerschmitt, it had the smallest possible airframe built around the most powerful engine available. It also boasted many of the then innovative features such as an all metal stressed skin construction, retractable main landing gear, automatic Handley-Page leading edge slats, etc. The Bf109 saw first combat during the Spanish Civil War and fully demonstrated its exceptional maneuverability, inherited from its precedent Bf108 Taifun (Typhoon) multi-purpose sports plane. The Bf109 underwent numerous improvement throughout its career, and mass production of the E variant started late in 1939. Within one year, about 2,000 "E" aircraft were rolled out. Its excellent performance greatly contributed in the active service of German pilots at the Western Front and during the "Battle of Britain". The E-3 version used an improved Daimler-Benz DB601Aa engine capable of 1,100 h.p. output. This engine had provision for mounting a 20mm MG FF cannon on the crankcase and firing through the propeller hub. The Messerschmitt Bf109E was one of the best fighters of the early WW2 period, on a par with the British Spitfire. Warning! Not suitable for children under 14 years.

300061040€29.99
Article number: 300061040 Product: 1:48 US North American P-51D Mustang About the North American P-51D Mustang 8th AF In April 1940, drawings were sketched in a New York City hotel room for a new fighter aircraft for the British purchasing Commission. This fighter, the North American NA73X, became one of the best fighter aircraft in the U.S. Army Airforce during World War II, and is known as the P-51 Mustang. Of the several variations of this famous fighter, the P-51D is generally accepted as the definitive Mustang and was the first production version with the "Bubble" canopy. More "D" model Mustangs were built than all other Mustang variants combined, with a total of 9,603 coming off production lines. 45 squadrons of the famed U.S. 8th Airforce, stationed in England were equipped with the P-51D, which could now escort and protect the heavy bombers all the way to and from targets on the European continent. There were several major changes that set the "D" apart form earlier Mustangs. One was the change from four .50 caliber machine guns to six, three in each wing. Another was to mount the guns upright which helped to eliminate a jamming tendency that occurred in the four gun system. Ammunition was increased to 400 rounds per inboard gun, and 270 rounds for each of the other four. Underwing pylons were strengthened to carry the 110 or 165 gallon auxiliary drop tanks or 1,000 lb bomb. P-51D Mustangs went to fight in the later Korean conflict and it last flew combat in 1956 in the deserts to the Middle East, when Israel used Spitfires, Messerschimitts and Mustangs together in the Mid East conflict. 1:72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I
300060748€15.99
Article number: 300060748 Product: 1:72 SUPERMARINE SPITFIRE MK1 The Supermarine Spitfire is regarded by many as the most esthetically designed single seat fighter to appear during the Second World War. It was conceived by the brilliant British designer Reginald J. Mitchell, and first flew on 5 March 1936. It was an advanced, low wing single seat monoplane with a very smooth flush riveted metal skin and a long flowing front cowling. Using the famous RollsRoyce "Merlin' liquid cooled 12 cylinder engine that produced more than 1,000 horsepower, the Mk I Spitfire attained a top speed of 586km/h. The very distinctive elliptical shaped wing was useful in reducing parasitic drag and allowed a fairly thin wing construction. It carried a large coolant radiator under the starboard wing, and a small oil cooler under the port wing, giving it an asymmetrical appearance when viewed from the front and bottom. The retractable main landing gear also contributed to its smooth lines, and gave it higher performance. The Mk I Spitfire was armed with eight 7.7mm machine guns, four to each wing. The early production of Mk I Spitfires used a fixed pitch wooden two blade propeller, which was later replaced with a two-pitch wooden two blade propeller. The Spitfire's combat action in thwarting Germany's attempt to raid the English mainland during 1940, and known as the "Battle of Britain" has ensured this fighter's pride of place in the minds of England's men and women forever. Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I Warning! Not suitable for children under 14 years.
Plastic model kits – the perfect hobby for children and adults
As a creative and varied hobby, plastic model making is popular among children, adolescents and adults alike. With time, patience and skill, complex plastic model kits containing hundreds of small parts can be turned into eye-catching models.
Plastic model making – what are plastic model kits?
Plastic model kits are made primarily of plastic (and more specifically, polystyrene). In general, the focus of plastic models tends to be on detailed designs rather than functionality.
Most plastic model kits consist of so-called “sprues” (plastic frames) containing individual parts, which must be separated before assembly. Depending on the difficulty rating, the parts are either unpainted or come ready painted or printed. If the parts are unpainted, they must be painted using a brush or an airbrush pistol (paints must be purchased separately). With unpainted parts, you can decide whether to follow the template or create your own design. With the right know-how and experience, you can also create custom models by combining parts from several different kits – so-called “kit bashing” or “scratch building”.
What is the recommended minimum age for plastic model kits?
Plastic models are often highly detailed, and therefore require a certain amount of skill – an important factor to bear in mind before purchasing a model making kit for your child. Depending on your child’s age, they may not have the full range of fine motor skills required to assemble a model, and may end up feeling frustrated. As a parent, you should choose an age-appropriate model and provide appropriate supervision and assistance during the assembly process. With adult supervision, some plastic model making kits are suitable for children as young as five.
