Article number: 300024163 Product: 1/24 Castrol Toyota Tom´s Supra GT The Japanese GT Car Championships were inaugurated in 1993, and are becoming more popular with motorsports buffs throughout domestic Japan. In addition to the highly modified Japanese cars, the super cars of Europe, like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche, vie for the title. During the 1995 season Toyota entered a fleet of their race tuned Supra GT's into this popular event. Packed into the Supra look alike body shell was Toyota's latest racing technology. A 2,140cc, 4-cylinder turbocharged powerplant was taken from Toyota's Eagle Mk.III racing machine, which was active during the '93 IMSA races in the U.S.A. The X-Trac developed sequential 6-speed gearbox efficiently transmitted this engine's awesome power to the rear wheels. Four wheel double wishbone suspension components were taken from another Toyota prototype racer, the TS010. The body shell was extensively modified to obtain even better aerodynamics. Additional air intakes and outlets, oversized fenders and a huge rear spoiler, gave its massive silhouette and even more aggressive appearance. Four different racing teams used the Supra during the '95 season and among them, Tom's was sponsored by Castrol. Driven by skilled drivers Sekiya and Krumm, the Castrol Tom's Supra pleased the racing fans with its outstanding performance throughout the season. Warning! Not suitable for children under 14 years.

Their "Supra" series is often described as a re-creation of Toyota's legendary 2000GT sports car, which was an excellent combination of high performance and elegance. Using their latest racing automotive technology, plus their uncanny design genius, the newly designed Supra made its sensational debut during February 1993. Massive and powerful are the words that can best describe this awesome specialty sports car. The top of the line Supra uses a 3-Liter, DOHC 24 valve, straight six cylinder, twin-turbocharged engine, capable of 320 horsepower and 43.6kg/m of torque. In contrast with the company's previous Supra model, which had a very fluid styling composed of gentle curves, the new Supra has a bold dramatic appearance due to its wider body and larger 17-inch wheels. An oversized rear wing has been installed to improve downforce performance during high-speed cruising. This Supra's newly refined suspension has one of the best road holding systems offered by any mass produced sports car, and with its ventilated disk brakes fitted at all corners, and the front end utilizing four piston calipers, it has unmatched stopping power.

The combination of hybrid unit integrated with motor and generator and engine is capable of over 500PS and 500Nm, while the car also features regenerative charging during brake function. A 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder direct injection turbo engine uses non-fossil fuel. In addition to side skirts and large rear wing, air ducts are equipped right and left at the rear to cool down the hybrid unit. In 2022, it achieved both Manufacturer’s and Driver’s Championships. About the Toyota Hilux Pick-Up The 3rd generation Toyota Hilux Pick-up (30/40 Series) debuted in 1978 and the RN36 model was developed specifically for export markets. It featured a sporty, lightweight body and was powered by a 98hp 1,968cc 4-cylinder gasoline engine. Furthermore, its live axle suspension featured front leaf spring shackles located towards the rear to provide sufficient approach/departure angles for superb off-road performance. Front/rear flared fenders and large tires gave the truck a tall, aggressive stance. The RN36 model was mainly exported to North America but was also later sold in Japan, and there are still many fans of this pick-up to this day. Throughout the long history of the Le Mans, two or three major manufacturers have always fought for the top honors, but the 1999 race boasted six major contenders.
