Art.Nr.: 300060304 Product: 1:32 Mc Donnell DOUGLAS F-15 EAGL About the McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle At one time during the missile boom years, the U.S. Air Force believed future air battles could be decided by air-to-air missiles rather than guns in the traditional dog-fighting manner. The need for air superiority weapons was relearned during the Vietnam Conflict and led to an Air Force requirement for an all-weather, single-seat, twin-engined fighter. This aircraft was to optimize counter-air operations. The U.S. Air Force requested several manufacturers to study and develop prototypes during the late 1960's under the FX program (Fighter Experimental). McDonnell Douglas was awarded a contract to develop the F-15 Eagle jet fighter in December 1969. The Eagle's advanced aerodynamic design greatly reduced drag at both the low and high lift configurations, and achieved superior maneuverability during varying flight conditions. Making its maiden flight in July 1972, it was deployed in November 1974 as the F-15A Eagle, and had been in active service since then. It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney F100 afterburning turbofan engines developed exclusively for the for the F-15, and is capable of speeds in the Mach 2.5 range. The F-15 can carry a heavy load of devastating weapons, including the internally mounted 20mm M61A-1 Vulcan cannon, with 940 rounds of ammo, the AIM-7 Sparrow radar guided missile and AIM9 Sidewinder short range air-to-air missile. In 1979 an upgraded version of the Eagle was introduced as the F-15C. One notable change was the increase in fuel capacity, but even more fuel was made possible by the conformal fuel tanks, which snuggle between the wings and up against the jet inlet ramps. This increase in fuel capacity enables the Eagle to expand long range operations, such as escorting AWACS and strike aircraft to their targets. The Landing gear has been reinforced to accept the extra fuel weight, allowing a maximum take-off weight of 68,000 lbs (30844 kg). The F100 Pratt & Whitney engines were also upgraded for easier maintenance and increased performance. The F-15C's maximum rate of climb at sea level is more than 50,000ft (15,240m) per minute. As the Premier jet fighter the Eagle continuously receives improvements to keep pace with the changing state of the art. The multi-stage improvement program (MSIP) is organized to enhance the avionics, like the internal ECM system and computer capacity. The APG-63, provides excellent long range navigation and tracking for the Eagles' fighter interdiction role. Owning to its versatility, adaptability and ruggedness, the F-15 Eagle will certainly continue to play its role of an air superiority fighter well into the 21st century. The P-51D was equipped with a Hamilton Standard propeller as standard but shortages of the propeller led to the installation of Aeroproducts propellers on some P-51Ds built at North American's Dallas factory, and these were distinguished by the designation P-51K. Most of the P-51Ks saw combat in the Pacific Theater, although some were also sent to Europe. In addition to the fighter role, some P-51s were equipped with cameras and used as reconnaissance aircraft. Among its many variants was the Mk.XVI, which was a Mk.IX airframe that was powered by a Merlin 266 engine license-built by Packard Motor Car Company in the United States. Most Mk.XVIs featured the larger rudder and E Type wing with two 20mm cannons and two 12.7mm machine guns. At that time, the Matilda had the thickest armor at 60mm, came armed with a 2-pounder cannon, and had thick side skirts which protected the "Japanese type" bogies. Powered by two diesel engines, the Matilda had a top speed of 24km/hr which was deemed appropriate as it matched the walking speed of infantry. At the North African front, thanks to its impenetrable armor, the Matilda completely defeated the opposing Italian forces. Because of the strength of their armor, the Germans began to use 88mm guns which were the only weapons that could penetrate the Matilda. A Doughty Light Tank By the 1930s French military planners could no longer ignore the obsolescence of their masterpiece FT17 tank from late WWI, and work started on a genuine successor to fill the void. One of the answers they came up with was the R35 light tank, which utilized rolled steel lower and three-piece cast upper hull designs and was armed with the short barreled 37mm gun. It was crewed by two. When hostilities with Nazi Germany burst into life in May 1940 the R35 was right in the front line. While it showed its armor was reliable, the 37mm gun was inadequate when it came to taking out German armor. Introduced as an upgraded version of the original Char B1, which was developed in the nineteen twenties, the B1 bis entered production in 1937. The rivet-joined hull mounted a short-barreled 75mm howitzer, while a small, one-man turret carried a longer-barreled 47mm tank gun. Different car makers were ordered to develop one of these. Krauss-Maffeir in Munich took charge of an 8-ton half tracks. Because this firm had given attention and study to half tracks since 1928, they completed a prototype, named KMm7 as early as 1933. It soon developed into the KMm8 and KMm9, and in 1936 the KMm10 was put into production. It was not until the KMm10 was born that the 8-ton half track was officially designated "Medium 8-ton Tractor (Sd.Kfz-7). Historical background In 1941, Porsche created a prototype tank which incorporated radical features including a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain. In 1943, the tank was transformed into the Ferdinand tank destroyer armed with an 8.8cm PaK 43 L/71 gun housed in a large box-shaped superstructure and 90 units were produced. During the Battle of Kursk, they demonstrated superior anti-armor capability to knock out T-34 and KV-1 tanks at long range, but their slow speed and unreliability resulted in many being immobilized by mechanical troubles. In 1944, 50 surviving Ferdinands were given modifications, including the addition of a machine gun, a commander's cupola, and were re-designated with the name Elefant. The Elefant saw combat on the Italian and Russian fronts, and some fought until the very end of WWII during the Battle of Berlin.

The larger gun meant a muzzle brake was installed to minimize the greater recoil effect and a counterweight was fitted to the rear of the turret. The 460hp diesel engine and the combination of the Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension (HVSS) and wider T80 tracks gave the M51 improved mobility. During the Six-Day War in 1967, the M51s were used against newer T-54/55 tanks as well as JS-3 tanks from Egyptian, Iraqi, and Syrian armies. Article number: 300035329 Product: 1:35 Modern JGSDF Type 10 Tank The Type 10 is the Japan Ground Self Defense Force’s next generation main battle tank. Now, it joins its predecessors the Type 61, Type 74 and Type 90 in the Tamiya 1/35 Military Miniatures series. The Type 10 was first shown to the world in 2010 (that’s where the 10 in its name comes from), and was assigned to units starting in 2012. Among the many advances from the previous Type 90 model are a Japanese-made 120mm smoothbore main gun, and the so-called C4I system. This state-of-the-art computerized system allows the Type 10 to be connected to a computer network and share information with other tanks, enabling co-ordinated actions. Article number: 300035326 Product: 1:35 U.S. M1A2 SEP Abrams TUSK II During the 2003 Invasion of Iraq, the U.S. deployed its latest M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks and these continued to be used in Iraq during the subsequent occupation period. Due to the threats posed by RPGs and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the urban environments, the tanks were upgraded with more protection in the form of Tank Urban Survival Kits (TUSK I) in 2004. The upgrade included features such as reactive armor on the hull sides, hull underside armor to protect against land mines, an M2 machine gun mounted above the main gun barrel, infrared cameras for the crew, and an external telephone for communication with accompanying infantry. A further development called TUSK II added features such as tile-shaped reactive armor to the turret and hull sides, armored shield for the commander, and a rear-view camera. These kits could be installed in field depots in about 12 hours and different tanks had different features equipped. The 10-in1 Ration was supplied to U.S. troops from 1943 to 1945. One sleeved carton contained four individual boxes, each a day’s rations for ten soldiers and including canned food, biscuits, cereal and more. Item Contents/Information • Sheet dimensions: 200mm x 195mm. • Contains cut-out illustrations for sleeve, carton and inner box components. • One sheet can be used to make eight sets, and you can choose to depict the carton sealed up or even removed from the sleeve and open to reveal the inner boxes. • The sheet also features a basic explanation of the 10-in-1 ration in English and Japanese. • An excellent choice to add further detail to WWII-era U.S. subjects such as those below.
